Derek Frieling, MCSS Delegate at Large, has 30 years of teaching experience, including at Lebanon High School (Lebanon, MO), Lafayette High School (St. Joseph, MO), and Troy High School (Troy, KS). He currently teaches World History, Dual
Credit American History, American History, Psychology, Sociology, and Government. Derek also serves as an adjunct professor at Missouri Western State University, teaching Methods of Teaching Social Studies. Derek has completed
programs such as the IREX/TEA teacher exchange program to Ukraine, the NHD Normandy Institute, Mao’s Long March to China, Keizai Koho to Japan, TOP to Germany, Korean War Legacy Foundation to South Korea, GenEd Teacher
Fellowship to Armenia, and has been selected to several additional educational seminars. He also has been a frequent presenter at the MCSS Conference and for several other professional development organizations. Derek earned both his BSEd
in Social Science and MA in History from Northwest Missouri State University and is a National Board Certified Teacher.
